Hand Crafted

Hand Crafted is an original TV series that spanned 3 seasons, took our crew to every corner of Western Canada, and brought us into contact with some of the most interesting characters we’ve ever worked with. It’s a series of short documentaries about “makers” – people who have dedicated their lives to a particular craft. 

There are 20 episodes in total, each delving into its own craft – everything from pottery to shoemaking to neon bending. Our goal with the series was not only to showcase the process of making things, but also to study the character of the people behind the work. The result is a kaleidoscope of characters, each with his or her own philosophy about the role and function of art and craftsmanship. 

The series was created in partnership with Gabfilms, with funding provided by TELUS.  Altogether, the series won 12 Leo Awards, and one Canadian Society Of Cinematographers award. The show is now streamin on TELUS Optik TV.
