Peanut For Mayor
Peanut For Mayor is an indie documentary about the most elaborate performance art project in Canadian history – the 1974 campaign to have Mr. Peanut elected to the Vancouver mayor’s office. Yes, you read that correctly. There’s really no way to explain this in one paragraph. That’s why we made a 30-minute film about it. If your curiosity is piqued, then I suppose you’ll simply have to watch the film. We promise you will be rewarded.

The film premiered at the Western Front in October, 2022, on the night of Vancouver's civic election (photos below). The film was widely covered in print and television news. One of the goals of the original Mr. Peanut campaign was to attract as much media attention as possible, and it was wonderful for us to see that this fascinating art project is still, in some sense, living on.
